Borthwiclt, headmaster, read a. • largo number of apologies, and paid a hign tri'bulo to the children for what they had doito in rai&ing the funds for the 'Honours Board and the Peace Memorial S'.or.o^ Tin* c.Uiurman then cabled on M.r_.E. TI. Andrews, a. former teacher in the school, and tho present chairman of tho Education Board, to unveil the Honours Board. Mr Andrews warmly congratulated the present pupils on whftit thev had done in raisins; such a handsome monument to past piioils, who had' fought so nobly to win tho grc»-t war. He was of tho opinio:! that the public schools were rrost suitable places in which to pliioa such monuments. He then unveiled the Board to tho ncoornpaniment of "God Save tho King," played by the Eighth (South Canterbury llepiimental Band). Th<» Mayor of Ashbnrton (ill- K. Galbraith) briefly addreessd the gathering, and warmly congratulated the Hampstead people on the ffreat work they "had done during the war, and on tho handsome memorial they had just unveiled. Ho was pleased to see Mr \7. H. Robinson, the chairman of the Hampstead Town Board, pregsnt, and mad<* nnecial reference to the splendid work Mrs Robinson
