Tha ch.airman further renortcd that, as the Beard bad, as yet, no finances to work upon, it had been necessary to obtain a number of Peninsua men to act as guarantors in respcct to the payment i'or poles and other supplies. So/ tor 21, out of 21 guarantors required,'had consented to act. After some discussion, the chairman and Mr Tbacker were empowered, to purchase 1200 poie-s for the main lines, and to obtain present jniirket -rates o; Australian hardwoods with a view of extending the purchase. The chairmen stated that the electrical engineer in charge of the Peninsula extension would return to Mew Zealand on 31'av lat. After that ho trusted matters would proceed rapidly.
