* The final batch of returned men were accorded a public welcome at a large gathering in the Drill Hall, Kaiapoi, lust The Mayor (.Mr J. H. Blackirell) presided. Tho guests were Sergeant Momo, Artificer Mal!c-sch r Corporals and Yarcoe, Privates Genet end Wyatt. The .Ayor ara the Rev. \V. B. Scott delivered addresses or v/elcomo, and on behalf of the Patriotic Committee the former presented to cac.'i iimedai in the form of a. Maltese cro?G euitabiv inscribed. Mr V*. Doubiedar also received a medal on behalf o: h:s eon, Engineer Lieutemmt-Conmander F. Doubled*}, siill on. service. The Mayor remarked that the committee had presented 173 medals to returned men and relatives of those who had teen killed or diod "while on active service. During the evening the Mayor, on behalf of the Patriotic Committee, presented Mr A. F. Bollinson, who has been chairman of the Farewell and Piecention Entertainment Committee from the commencement of the war, with - leather travelling bag- Items "were piven bv Messrs G. Green, A. and G. Tft?it, R. Ma'colm, E. Bbvlisp, Mra Drabble, end M : ?s Roberts, Hoskins and Purdi* acted as accompanists. The evening concluded with euppor and a dance.
