Peter (Geraldine) are staying at the Clarendon. Mr and Mrs Cecil F. Kelly are visiting "Wanganui. : Mrs 13. B. "Wood returned from "Wel- , lington ye-sterday morning. Her brother, Mr Gladstone Ward, accompanied her. Mrs N. M. Orbell was welcomed as a member of the Navy League Committee Inst night. Mr Boyle (chairman) said that Mrs Orbell had done good work for the League in the South, . and he felt sure she would prove a j valuable member of the committee. ; Arrivals by the Moana from San ! Francisco this week speak of thc_ tremendous interest taken in California in the Piokford divorce case. The attractive Mary is said to have_ spent a merry time changing from train to train in a somewhat hopeless endeavour to evade the persistent interviewers, who, after the manner of American pressmen, were I keen on a good story at any cost. Tho following resolution was passed I at a meeting of tho Women's National ! Reservo at Wellington yesterday, and will be forwarded to the Countess of Liverpool, patroness of tho Society:— "This gathering of the executive of the Women's National Reserve of New Zealand desire to tender to your Excellency, on your departure from our shores, a I most sincere adieu and good wishes for i everv happiness in whatever part of tho ! Empire you may bo chosen to grace in "future. During the strenuous and suffering time of the war your Excellency by personal sympathy deeply endeared yourself to manv mothers and wives of soldiers, thus alleviating the distress of many sufferers. May God cunrcl and gtiido your Excellency! Adieu."
