ME H. B. DUCKWORTH ENTERTAINED. Mr Henry Duckworth and his boh, Mr Hairy B. Duckworth, o£ Messrs Duckworth, Turner and Co., Ltd., leave on Wednesday on a trip to England. ~ On. Saturday, just before knock-off time, Mr J. Lufi, on behalf of the firm's employees, presented Mr Duckworth, "n., with a, travelling bar, and Mr Harry Duckworth with a fountain pen. In the evening, m tho.Masonic xiall, a smoking concert was tendered by tn® emplojeee to Mr Harry Duckworth. g-atheringr, which. was presided over by MX Luff, indicated that tho best of filings existed between the employees and the heads 01 the firm. Amongst those present were Messrs J. W. Beanland (Deputy-Mayor),. C. M. Ollivier, W. Garton, H. Lightband, end others interested in the boot manufacturing and lcathor trades. . „ ~ Speaking to the. toast Our Guest, Mr Lightband detailed the history of tho firm, and said that be had seen in its rise an<\ extension tho result of energy, honesty, and sound common-seqpo as applied to business. The toast was proposed by Mr feunp£on, and was also spoken to by Mr Garton. . Other toasts were;—" Army and proposed by Mr Davidson and responded to by Mr T. Wilson; "Allied Trades, proposed by Mr Harry Duckworth and responded to by Messrs Ollivier arid Garton: and Tho Visitors," proposed by Mr L. Hart and responded to by Messrs P. J. Goodsir and Beanland. , .. Soncs and other items were given, by Mews V. F" Hamilton, R. Malcolm, L. Hart, W. Trewern, W. Joll, F. Allen, C. Tidy, H. "line, T. Hobson, and J. Falconer.
