The position is the gravest for many yoars. BRITISH MINERS' BALLOT. LONDON, April 15. Tho final figures of the miners' ballot give a majority of 65,000 in favour of the acceptance of the Government ofYer. The Lancashire and South Wales miners favoured a strike, but the Yorksliiremen were largely in favour of peace. AMERICAN" RAILWAY STRIKE. NEW YORK, April 16. Speaking at the Building Trades picnic, the Chief Secretary, Mr Dooley, dealing with the movement for a fortyfour hour week, said thero was nothing very extraordinary in tho demand, but the method of achieving it was debatable.
