Sir Hamnot Holditch Share, R.N., K.8.E., C.8., Paymaster-in-Chief (ranking as Captain), who is now in his fifty-sixth year, is ono of the rami distinguished members of the accountancy branch of the Royal Navy. He entered the Navy in 1880, and served in H.M.S. Tourmaline in a detached squadron, which in 1880-82 visited South America, South Africa, Ans- ■ tralia, Pacific Islands, Japan, China, i and the Mediterranean, and during the Egyptian "War, ISS2. and the occupation of the Suez Canal, for -which he received the Egypt medal and tho Khedive's bronze star.
