MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Messrs F. Knights and W. C. Cleaxy, J.P.'e, presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Two first offenders for drunkenness wero each fined 5s and costs. James Hamilton pleaded guilty to Ming drunk and disorderly on tho railway station, end also to having- used obscene language. Ho was fined 10s on the first charge and £5 and costs on the second, in default one month's imprisonment. Thomas Bach-up, on remand, was charged that, at Oamp Bay, he did Bteal a moki not valued at £3, the property of Norman William Scott. He was further remanded till May 12th. l\. Harrington charged James Evens with having unlawfully assaulted him. Evans pleaded guilty, and W3 fined 20s, in default seven days' imprisonment. SCHOOL CLOSED. On account of tho prevalence of whooping cough among tho scholars, the West Lyttelton School, which opened yesterday rhorning after the Easter holidays, was closed until tho beginning of nest week.
