e BRITISH MINERS' DEMANDS. (By Cable—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association.) LONDON, March 29. The Coal Miners' Conference, after hearing the executive's report following on n further interview with the Government, decided to submit the matters in dispute to a ballot of all miners, the ballot papers to be returnable on. April 15th. The ballot is to decide whether the men will accept the Government's new offer of a 20 per cent, increase, with a guarantee of a minimum of 2s per shift for workers over 18 years of age, of Is for those between 16 years and 17 years, and of 9d for those under 16, payable from March Ist. The new offer is estimated to cost between £35,000,000 and £38,000,000 per annum;
THE JIVE-DAY WEEK.
SYDNEY, March 31. The Master Builders' Association has decided to prosecute the bricklayers for refusing to work on Saturday, and have convened a meeting on Tuesday to discuss a general close-down on all works, pending a settlement of the trouble in the Arbitration Court, or by legislation.
