WAR MEMORIAL.

TO TTIH EDITOR OF "THE TRESS." Sir,— My very blood runs cold at the thought that our beautiful Botanical Gardens, a place of pleasuro and recreation, arc to be turned into a. public, cemetery bv placing in their midst a mortuary chapel, as "was suggested by the executive of the War Memorial Committee at their meeting last night. The pla"o for such a monument should be, preferably, tho L'nwnod Cemetery, such as we see several at tho Cemetovy of Pero Lachaise in Paris. Whv should we perpetuate the grief and sorrow of Death P For those who bore sufferings untold with smiling faces, rather let us think of the glorious resurrection, and rejoice that those who nobly died for freedom are moving onward to brighter spheres. Give us a memorial which will lift our aspirations to tho height above, not tie us to the tomb. Tomber pour la Justice ct pour la Liberie, C'est la plus belle mort—Cost L'lmmortalite!! —Yours, etc., W. S. MALAQUIN. f&March 17th.
