Tho latest news from Bvria shows that tho situation is exceedingly grave. There has boon serious fighting between tho French troops and the Syrian Volunteers at Margyun, where the casualties on both sides were heavy, and also at Tal Kalakh, whero the French troops aro reported to havo suffered severely. There has also been fightin;: at Alexandretta and other places 'along tho Jino of demarcation of tho French zono of occupation. A National Defenco Committco has been formed at Damascus for enforcing compulsory military service on everybody. Tho committee has issued a manifesto against all foreign intervention. Women aro enrolling as combatants.
