Party politics, ho was confident, should not yet bo resumed." When tho Reform Party and tho Reform Press expressed tho same opinion and invited tho Liberals, without imposing any conditions whatever, to explore tho prospocts of unity, they were mot with tauntg that culminated in a flat refusal to preservo tho country from a renewal of party warfare. And wo may also reasonably ask thom to considor whether, having 60 emphatically and defiantly preferred party warfaro to national -unity and tho country's interests, they can with any proprioty, in appealing for support for any particular candidate, invoko tho national interest for which they displayod so little regard.
