SUMNER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Sumner School Commit<M was bald lost sight. Present—Mr D. Lumaden ' (chairman), Mcsdames Fountain Barber and W. G. Roberts, and Messrs G. A. Alexander, & Benjamin. G. F. Newman, J. Browne,, and J. H. Thomas. A latter was received from $e Young Women's Presbyterian Sunday School Union asking for tbo ass of a room at Easter. It was decided to mat tbo request subjoct to an insurance policy being seemed for tho time tbo building would be in use. It was decided to ask tbo Mayor, the Hon. J. Barr, M.LC., ts present tbo. prises, and to invite tbo members of the Board of Education for lbs district to bo present at the ceremony. It ins resolved to hold the school picnic at Ksiapoi. on February 11th. and s enb-com-mittee, consisting of Messrs Alexander, Browne, Tboxnas, and tbo headmaster, was appointed to complete arrxngMnent* The Oonoert Committ<x> reported that the -first txraoort of "tlio scries was a success. It weis decided to bold tho next on December 19th, sad to forward a hearty vote of thanks to G. Brass, of the Caledonian Society. The beadmaatar's report showed a roll of 153 boys and 151 girls—total 312. Fourteen bad boon, admitted. The average for tbo past {aaz weeks ms 113 boys, 141 girls—total 281.
