Mr William Telford, who died at OHfton, Vaiwera South, on Friday, At tho ngo of tiJ years, was ono of thel largest landowners .in Otago. He iw the son of tho laitc Mr "William Telford, of Otanomomo and Clifton Estates. Ho was born on Itis father's plaro, Port Lincoln. Sonth Australia, in 1857. When about three years of age he camo ' "with his parents to Otago, and settled on Clifton Estate, and later on at Otnnomoino, where ho lived till his father's death, when ho took over the Clifton properly-, and made it one of tho beat estates in the province. The deceased gentleman was a linen horticulturist, and had nm> of the linest country gardens in Otaco. He was well known as a brooder of Itomney *>hecj> and took many nrir.e< at the various shows, lairing tJio war lie subscribed largely to patriotic fundi'. In 1893 ho married •Margaret, daughter of the lato Mr John "erry, of Tupanui. He is survived by his widow- and two cliildren, a bov and a girl.
