The shooting of Detective-Sergeant Barton was tho fourteenth police murder during 1919. He was young and pcpular, and was recently transferred to tho political section of tho detective force. It is believed that the murderer tracked him through the crowded streets towards the Central Police Station, whither Barton was proceeding, and fired four shots in College sti eot, one shot penetrating Barton a back.
