WAR BONUS CONTROVERSY. (PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGS.OI.) DUNEDIX, I>occmber 1. The Dunedin branch of tho New Zealand Post and Telegraph Officers' Association resolved: "Tnat this section enters; an emphatic prortcst against tho aetiou of tho Government m not at onco paying the war bonus which was undoubtedly promised by Sir Joseph "Ward, and in referring the matter to outside adjudication, seeing that it Ls admitted by prominent, members of Cabinet that the promise was given. With regard to the minute of Cabinet which is being used in the attempt to avoi<f payment, and which states that the bonus will not be paid if tho officers receive increases, -we desire to point out -that, had reclassification not taken plarc, the majority of tho officers would hare received'increments of salary, and also_ that a large majority of tho officers did not receive such increments as should brint* their salary to the maximum to which tho last war bonus was paid, namely £350.' !
