ST. PAUL'S, SUMNER.

PBEHEKTATIOH OP FLAGS. Dnring tho at St. Paul's Church, Sumner, last night, Lieutenant R. A. Kerr, who "was with tho N.Z. Mounted Field Amiralanoe in Palestine, presented tho church with two flags, one being a Union Jack which was used by the N.Z. Mounted Brigade during its advance across the Sinai Peninsula into Palestine, and subsequently for some timo in Lower Palestine, and tho other a Red Cross Flog which was flown at Boersheba, Jaffa, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem, and was carried by the first troops to entor Jericho. It was carried to a point cast of tho Jordan close to the Hedjajs railway at Amman. For & tsktart period rt was displayed on the Hill otEril Counsel and the Mount of OGves, both times as a distinguishing emblem for tho ambulance. Lieutenant Kerr stated that they were flags that ho treasured highly. Their value tats too great to have them locked away, and ho knew of no better place for them than St. Paul's Church, oumner. The Rev. W. J. Williams, in receiving thorn into tho church, stated that he was very proud to do so. They would bo an inspiration for generations to come. Mr H. Buttle, senior trustee, accepted the flags on behalf of the officers of tho church and hung them on tho Roll of Honour. The congregation then roso and sang the National Anthem.
