GERMAN" GOODS. In order to prevent tho "catnouflace" of frtwman procbee under Belgian brands, and <o srive the buyers of Allied enrntries a tmc of origin of the national exports and prodnota, Belgian manufacturers are now jnforcingr tho regulations of pro-war existing trade associations and establishins wnr one* for tho trades which had no each organisation beforro 1014. Well-known and powrial iiriclations «uch as the "Belgian Glaas Maker*' Association" of Charleroi, and the "Metals and Coal Exchange" of Brufree la, have taken etepo since tho Armistice to ho>J their members entirely free from unfriendly infltmoo of oay kind. It is understood now from official aoorees (hat fourteen of the largeet cement prodnoera have formed themeelvee into a new group, and Juive decided that only tho nuasnfaotarers who were working' before July, 1914, and who accept to submit _ thexnselves to an enquiry <m behalf of their former or war-time aotivitie« and relations with the »x-occupier of tho Belgian territory, can become members.
THE WOOL SEASON. A LIGHT CLIP. There i» grave apprehension at the present moment concerning the present Mason's wool rllp, which is allowing a considerable falling «>H in weight and quantity, and which is giving every indiooion of a serious shortage (says Friday's "N. 2. Times"). It is estimated in aonM quarters that this will amount to something lilts a red-notion of ten per cent, in the total output. The reason assigned for thin shortage is an unfavourable autumn, and an even more unfai oura-Me winter, the ronsequenco being fleece* materially lighter. These conditions nave been prevalent in the East Const districts more than elsewhere, and the falling off k necessarily greater ttterei One fanner with whom we have dweusaed the matter says his svnrago yield of wool is aeranty bales, and this year it » barely sixty. On some of the larger runs, the discrepancy is even greater, but it varies Recording to circumstanccn. At the same time, there has been a considerable mortality amongst cattle, as the result of a similar shortage of feed, and the loams on •orao stations am reported to be severe. At lho present time, there is a drought throughout tho northern part of Hawke's Bay, and the on Hook is not good. So far as wool » concerned, tho quantity produced this year ■will be substantially lene than last year, and dji tho commandeer does not end until June of the coming year the nheep-fartners will not l>-netlt in tho meantime by the higher prices that are now prevailing.' CUSTOMS RETURNS. FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER. Far the montli of November, 1919, tho Customs and beer dutiea collected at Christihttrch totalled £79,676 17s .Id, aa compared with £59,9(30 14e 7d collected the previous month, and with £11,091 16s 6d collected in November, 1918. The big difference between tV.o amounts for November this year and November last year is duo to tho fact that tVic influenza epiomic was raging in ChristI'lmxch in November, 1918.
