MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.
CHILDREN'S DEMONSTRATION. On Thursday evening a well attended meeting of those interested in carrying out a young peoplo's demonstration prior to the licensing poll was held at tho W.C.T.U. rooms. It was resolved that tho fixture take placo on December 13th. A varied cornpo- j tition display was arranged, for which substantial prizes will bo awarded. , LODGE MEETING 1.0.0. F. ! A Lodgo meeting was held in tho Ridgley Hall in Armagh etrcet on Wednesday evening. There wore a very large attendance. Sister Hartigan was in Aho choir. Oco Sister was admitted by clearance and one initiated. Three members wero reported on the sick list. There wero visitors present from Washington, Lily of Sydenham, Miriam, Star of St. Albans-, and Star Of Sydenham Lodges. Sister Primmer acted ae musician. Tho Lodge was closed i>y Sister Hartigan in tho usual manner. TEMPERANCE LODGE. At tho fortnightly meeting of tho Hope of Sydenham Division, No. 8, Sons of Temperance, Bro. W. J. Gundy, W.P., presided over a cckjO attendance. The division decided to hold a combined church parade on December 7th, at tho Sydenham Methodist Church. The tccretary was instructed to aek the Subordinate Divisions, also the Rechabitos and the 1.0. G. Templars to take part. Bro. Hoddinott and Bro. Sharp wero elected to attend the nest meeting of the • National Division. Sick pay was pasaed for payment to eoveral members. RUGBY STREET METHODIST CHURCH. On Tuesday evening, at tho Rugby street Schoolroom, tho congregation cf the St. Albaca Church extended a warm welcome to tho Rav. J. Dennis, who recently arrived from Timaru to take charge of the Edgeware road Church. The chair was occupied by the Rev. A. C, Lawry, and the speakers were tho Iters. W. C. Oliver, T. A. Joughin ! (chairman of the district), and Mr C. F. Kdgar (circuit steward). A choice mueical programme was contributed by Mrs Parker, Mrs Hindle, and the Misses Dunn, Hindle, end Harrison. The Rev. J. Dennis expressed his appreciation of the kindly sentiments expressed by tho speakers, and besought their co-operation so that his ministry might bo of a successful character.
