CASUALTIES.
SUDDEN DEATHS. Towards the close of the Hon. R. H. Rhodes's meeting at Methven on Thursday evening, a resident of the district, named Benjamin Alorrall, aged 77 years, suddenly collapsed. He was taken outside the building, and died almost immediately.. Deceased, who was subject to heart attacks, was a retired business man, and resided with his daughter, Mrs W. H. Pearce. He had b'een in the district for about a year. As he hid been attended by a doctor no inquest will be necessary. The Ashbnrton police received advice yesterday that a man named Walter Stass, aged 68 years, employed by Mr Watson, Springfield, had died suddenly that morning. Deceased was seen by. his employer in bed early in the morning, and being . spoken to, but on going into the room later Mr Watson found Stass dead. An inquest will Be held by Mr James . Cow, District Coroner. •
INQUEST. An inquest was held at Rangiora yesterday beforo Mr C. I. Jennings, J.P., Acting-Coroner, and a jury of four, or which Mr W. A. Rowse was foreman, touching the death of Gilbert Love, a casual boarder, who was found dead sitting in a chair, at the Glen-Ross boardabout 10 p.m. on Thursday. Evidence of identification was given by G. A. Bruere, threshing-mill owner, who stated that deceased had worked on his mill for two months last season as cook. Dr. L. B. Burnett, who had made a post-mortem examination, certified that death was due to sudden heart failure, secondary to chronic inffcynmation of the kidneys. Tho jury returned a verdict in accordance) with the medical evidence. (PKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGKAM.S DUNEDIN. November 28. Robert McMorran, a rabbiter, was burned in his tent at Lindis Pass and died in the Cromwell Hospital to-day. He was a single man, aged SO, and his mother resides in Dunedin.
