Tho Rev. W. P. Hughes, late of Malvern, has taken over the Sydenham Anglican charge, and will bo instituted to-morrow. Mr K. M. Boswell, stationmaster at Gisborno, is retiring on superannuation. H(< will bo succeeded by Mr J. Fraser, who has been chief passenger clerk at Auckland. Mr G. B. Dall, Assistant-Secretary to the Post and Telegraph Department, who succeeded Major Holdsworth in chargo of the postal arrangements of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in returned to Wellington. At the annual meeting of tho Oxford County Mr R. F. Henderson was elected chairman. Mr Baxter, who did not offer himself for re-election, thanked tho councillors for their support during his term of office. Mr Peter Glasson, who som© time back returned from France and rejoined tho Bank of Australasia, has been promoted by his bank and transferred to the Temuka branch. He leaves Christchurch on Monday. Mr Miles Foathor stone, London manager and director of Wright, Stephenson, and Co. Ltd., is at prosent with his wife and daughter, in Wellington. It is fourteen years 6inco Mr Foatherstone was last in New Zear land. Mrs Featherstono took a very active part in hospital work in London for the wounded soldiers during the war, and is well known to large numbers of the New Zealand soldiers. A pleasant function took place yesterday afternoon at tho Public Trust Office, when the members of tho staff assembled to bid farewell to Mr W. G. Bajrd and Mr F. E. Duncan. Mr Baird leaves for the head office, Wellington, to take up the duties of relieving officer, whilst Mr Duncan goes to Timaru as local deputy-Public Trustee. Both officers were the rej cipienta of - handsome gifts from their j follow officors, which were accompanied ! with congratulations on their promotion, best wishes for their success, hnd sir.cero regret at their departure. Opportunity was taken to welcome to the Christchurch office Mr A. R. Jordan, who has been appointed to the position of first assistant local deputy-Public Trustee, and Mr W. M. Egglestone, who replaces Mr Duncan as district accountant.
