A strike of teamsters and chauffeurs has dislocated the entire railway services of tho city- Eleven thousand men are out. A living" WAGE. SYDNEY, October 14. The Industrial Court has decided to apply the new living wage immediately without waiting for the proposed legislation. ■ As a result, tho Government has increased the railway fares between 6 and 14 per cent. The Pittsburg correspondent of the "New York Times'' states that -at tho beginning of the fourth week of the steel strike the employers in all districts claim a complete victory, and; state that tho back-bone of the strike has been broken. Tho Labour leaders counter-claim that their forces are still virtually intact, and that thero have been only a few desertions. THE RAILWAY TROUBLE. (Received October 14th 9.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 14. j Mr John Greely Jenkins, a former | Premier of South Australia, now a i British delegate to the International I Trade Conference, in an interview, said that the outcome of the British railway strike showed the tho Government, not the strikers, must be supreme. Tho "four, if anything, had strengthened Mr Lloyd George with the great majority of the Labour people.
