"OF one logs we are about to sustain," said Bishop Julius in the course of his presidential address at Synod yesterday afternoon, "I speak with some distress. Mr G. A. Thompson, our invaluable Diocesan Registrar, has resigned his office, to take up similar work in the diocese of Auckland. I have never known a man at once so capable in business, so methodical, and so full of -sympathy as he. A Diocesan Registrar may easily become mechanical and lose his soul in statutes and regulations. The clergy and laity of this diocese owe much to a man who loved to help them out of their difficulties. As for me, 1 hav© lost my right hand. You will be glad to know thart the choice of the Standing Committee and Church Property Trustees has fallen upon the Rev. J. de B. Gfclwey, whose ability wo know, and whose solid worth they recognise who know him best." "My throat was a continual reminder of its existence, and my nasal organ was a nuisance. Three doses of Baxter's Lung Preserver, and 'the cold bug was at rest'." B. Crawford, 20 Symonds street, Auckland. 2s 6d bottle, Chemist or Store. 32 "NO MACHINE LIKE MINE." This is what the ladies say when they have a Daytonia. The greatest sewing machine proposition before you. (Minsnn'sV. M657Q
