I'uo census for tiio city of Ciuistciiurch showed 460 scouts and 2u oiiioers, and the Association woa an tho way to see every .parish in the town district with its troop of fccouts. .Regret was expressed that it was not unknown for a parish ,to run a troop without aJniiating with the Brigade. The main feature of the year was the new developments in Scout education and work. The Scouts under the Association's control distinguished thtmselv-es during the influenza epidemic period, # one depot being staffed completely by Scouts and Scout officers. Training camps had been held for Scoutmasters and elder Scouts, and from the last-mentioned it was hoped io develop a new movement for boys over 15—the Eovera. This movement was initiated recently in England by Sir Robert Bsdcn-Poweli, and was on trial in four Christchurch .parishes. The Brigade organised the Scout welcome to Admiral Jel- ! licoe. TVoik in the country districts had gone on slowly, and little could be done without financial help. If Scoutmasters could bo obtained almost every boy in the country districts would become a Scout. The total Scouts in country districts waa about 150. During the past six months the Association had issued a monthly bulletin to all affiliated troops. Mr gave notice to move: — "That this Synod welcomes tb"a good work done by the. Christchurch Dioceean Boy Scout Association, and commends it to tho Standing Committee for help and support."
