FORTNIGHTLY MEETING, * Tho City Council met last evening. Present: The Deputy-Mayor (Cr, J; W. Beanland), and Crs. H. F. Herbert/ . D. G. Sullivan, H. Hunter, E. E. Longley, F. Burgoyne, J. 0. Andrews. : * ; I As the change of the name of Lower, High street to Ferry road will entail : , the re-numbering of tho whole of Ferry I road from Madras street to the' Ferry bridge, it was decided to have tho city portion of the re-numbering carriedout. Tho Works Committee reported that it had authorised tho re-setting of the - footpath in qoncrete and the construction of a 6in concrete wall at the building lino of a portion of the footp&tii ' on the south siae of Ferry road between Lancaster street and Wilson's road, to v prevent rats from undermining the path, which is occurring at present. Tl;e following new works were author, Street and path tarring general!] in Central Ward, metalling Barbadoei street, and providing concrete beds foi tho pumps in the St. Albans yard. It was doiided to hold the next meeting of the Council on Tuesday t October 2St-b and the subsequent meeting three weeks later.
