Linwood: Brown, Selwood, Wcodhara, Buison, 15. Lyttolton v. Linwood—Linwood: Williams, Dunlop, Kidd, 1 Burson, 25. Lyttelton: Newton, Brown, Young, Bromley, 21. . NEW SPORTS CLUB. The Mayor opened a new boxing club in tho Foresters' Hall on Saturday evening. The club was organised by Mr Syd. Lane, who will act as instructor. A good membership has already been secured, and it ia anticipated that the venture will prove a very successful one. The Mayor, in hia address, said he considered that bosing, when carried cut under good instruction was a clean, healthy eport, and he wished tie club a prosperous future. He hoped that the club would be in a position in the near future to provide a publio entertainment. . '
SOCIAL EVENING. An enjoyable social wae held on Saturday evening at Mr C. Mazey's residence, Lyttelton. Those present passed the evening in dancing, Mr A, Arneeen acting as pianist. Mr and Mrs C. Hajtoy and the Misses Mazey (2) were host and hostesses, and the guests were as follows:—Misses Bundy (2), WhiteParsons (2), M. Hutchinson, Halm&haw, Sowden (»), Heonoy (2), Mr and Mrs F. S. H. Warner, T. Reardon, • Messrs Howard L. Moody, Thomas C. Hatton, Allan Maruon, J. Wyatt, Con. Mawsy, T. Thompson, L. Norton, J. Plimmer, White-Parsons.
SEAMEN'S INSTITUTE. During tho past week over 100 eeamen and boys and 15 officers made use pi tho Seamen's Institute. Twelve _ packet* of books and magazines wero distributed amongst tho ssamen. Two social evenings wero held, musical items being provided by Mrs M. J. Miller and Miss K. Miller. Three seamen joined tho Seamen's Christian Brotherhood.
