Groen, woll known through his, connexion witli Featherston Camp; Lieutenant Cyril Stringer, eldest 6on of Mr Justico Stringer; Captain G. T. Booth, who has for tho past three years been on active service in the Motor Boat Patrol, returned to Christchurch on Wednesday, and was given an enthusiastic welcomo homo by tho omployees of tho Carlylo Implement Works yestorday afternoon, an adjournment of tho entire works being mado for the purpose.. Tho works superintendent, Mr/ G. C. Whitaker, on behalf of tho works generally, mado an appropriate little speech, and soma of tlio foremen —Messrß W. Halliday, George Burn, J. Burgess, and E. Harman —spoke on behalf of their respective departments. Mr Booth, whd was received with applause, thanked the various speakers for the Kindly sentiments expressed, and hoped to be able to "live up" to tho standard evidently expected of him'. ,He noticed with pleasure various improvements which had in,his absence, been effected, and. expressed tho opinion that, in actual working efficiency, he had scon nothing in any of the great engineering establishments he had visited and been connected with in Groat Brtain that could show a lead to the Carlyle Implement Works. A round of cheers was given for Mr and Mrs B.'G. Booth.
