A corncr not too safe from a traffic point of view is that at the junction )f Merivale lane with Rossall strcot, md motorists and others will be glad bo learn that, thanks to the public spiritedness of Mr Arthur E. G-, Rhodes, an improvement will bo possible, which will reduce the present danger considerably. Yesterdny morning Mr Rhodes called on the Mavor of Christcliurch (Dr. Thacker. 31.P.), and offered to convey to the municipality sufficient land at the fornnr mentioned to allow it to bo founded off. , , The Mayor, on behalf of tho citizens, accepted the offer with • thanks, and tojdav tho Citv Engineer (Mr A. Dudley Dobson) will meet Mr Rhodes on tho ground, and discuss details. . It will be recalled that some tinid ap;o Mr Rhodes gave a strip of land in Rhodes street for tho purpose of widening that street, and reducing the possibility of accidont. Tho work is to b<j done iointlv bv the Tramway Board and the Citv Council, and it is understood that matters are now advanced far e"ouph to allow of tho actual widening being done.
