Coop was elected a member of committee to fill tho vacancy caused by the death of Mr Adams. The Minister of Agriculture yrrote stating that lie was looking carefully into tho matters of the price of skins and hides as compared with the manufactured article, and the lack of spaco afc the freezing works. Tho letter was received. It was reported that tho Shorthorn So ciety of Great Britain and Ireland had authorised tho New Zealand Cattlo Breeders' Association to offer a gold medal for competition this year at the Christchurch Show, <o be given for the best Shorthorn bull, such bull to bo entered in the New Zealand Shorthorn Herd Book. Tho offer was accepted with thanks. FINANCE COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The Finance Committee recommended that, as an inducement to new members to join tho Association, all members should be granted an extra lady'a ticket, each ladys ticket to admit one lady or two children to the Metropolitan Show. The committee also recommended that members' motor-cars be admitted free to the Show Grounds, and that ia? non-members' cars a charge of 5s be made. , . Tho recommendations were adopted. The sub-committeo appointed to draw up remits presented the following for discussion at tho forthcoming Council of Agriculture: — (1) Thai tho serious attention of the Government be called- to tha danger of the spread of tho cattlo tick by tho_ interchange of stock, and that regulations bo framed to prevent tho spread of tho tick to non-infected areas. (2) That the Publio Works Department be asked fo facilitate the distribution of electric current in country districts traversed by transmission lines. (3) That the Government be asked to make enquiries regarding suitable outside markets for New Zealand purebred stock and the best method of disposing of same, with due regard to the intorest of the producer. (4) That the Government be asked to subsidise metropolitan shows in New Zealand. DATE OF SHOW. It was decided to hold tho Metropolitan Show on November 13th and 14th next. Tho following twenty-two new members were elected: T. N. Gardner (Christchurch), W. W. Mulholland (Darfield), Ross Macdonald (Annot). A Rutledgo (Russell's Flat), G. J. Leech (Rangiora), U. Marshall (Fernside), W. A. Kelcher (Balcairn), W. Stalker (Rangiora), W. S. Busch (West Eyreton), T. Power (West Eyreton), .T. 8. Hiatt (North Loburn), W. Baxter (Omihi), R. Boyd (Fernside). W. Smith (Fernside), Ales. Mcintosh (Southbrook), Jas. Rowe (Cust), T. Miles (Fernside), J. R. Frizzell (West Eyreton), Jas. Frizzell (West Eyreton), R. Davison (West Eyreton), G. Aitken (Christchurch), and H. Elliott (Christchurch).
