The financial statement showed that the perioral purposes account, including donations during' May, nad n credit balanco ji" £2181 -Is 3d. The material account credit balance amounted to JKI97 Ta Od, and the recrcaf'.on room crcdit balanco to £102. The reception account had a debit balance of £29 •-■a tie comforts account a debit o{ £3GI Os lid and tho motor-car account 3 debit of £192 is lid. In regard to a letter received at tho -ast meeting* from Wellington in reference to reported accumulation of stocks of goods made by the soldiers in the vocational workshops, tho chairman reported that eo far as Christchurch wns concerned there was no accumulation. The chairman added that there was n great deal of discussion among the various Bed Cross centres as to whether the »cn should receive (he proceeds of tho sale of articles made by them in the vocational workshops. He "rood a letter which pointed out that, as a large number of the men wcr occupicd with curative work, from which there could bo no remuneration, it was fairc: to sell all the articles and to put tho proceeds into a general fund for tie benefit ul all the men. On the motion of Mr Hallenetein, it was i decided to support tho rule of selling tho article® for the benefit of all. A letter was received from Colonel tho Hon. K. Heaton Rhodes, M P», advising thai a shipment of IC-1 cases of tinned fruit, etc., received in England recently, was being used as far as possible for the sick, but a supply was also being put on all returning transports. This action was approved. Sir James Allen wrote stating that he had received a cablegram from the High Commissioner, stating that at prcesnt the funds provided for prisoners of war was sufficient. The chairman read a letter from Major Brewinß, of the Queen Mary Hospit-al_ Hanmer Springs, enumerating a list of game 3 required by the patients there. They included indoor games (cards, chcss, dominoes, draughts, ping-pong, etc.), outdoor games (tennis racquets and balls, golf clubs and bags, croquet balls, etc.), end amusements (gramophones, records, and needles, and a water polo ball). The London Centre wrote enclosing copy of a letter received from the officer commanding on the troopship Paparoa, thanking the Association for its kindness in p.acmg on board tho Papaioa certain foodstuffs and atores.
