t The monster Peace Carnival, to which all devotees of the roller-skate have been looking forward for weeks past, will commence in the Colosseum to-night. No pains have been' spared to make the function a great spectacular success, and complete measures have been taken to make the Colosseum a veritable palace of splendour for' the occasion. Amongst the many competitions will be waltzing, two-stepping, gliding, races, and novelty events, while the posted masquerade, and evening dresses in which the skaters will bo clothcd should result in a fine blend of colour, original costume, and fancy effects. No less than £50 is being offered in prizes by the managem*nt. The Carnival will extend over two nights, and is claimed to be the biggest thing of its kind ever attempted in Australasia.
