LABOUR CONFERENCE.
» A DIVIDED BODY. (By Cablo.—Press Association.—Copyright I (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, June 9. The opening session of the annual conference of the Australian Labour Party afforded indications that it will prove a trial of strength between the moderates and the extremists. A resolution was adopted protesting against the Allies sending armed forces to Russia, and favouring the Russian people being allowed to work out their own destiny. A heated argument occurred ovef tho proposed method of electing the executive. The moderates claimed that the , tactics being adopted were intended to capture the conference in the interests of one big union. One delegate declaimed airainst the alleged adoption of an I.W.W. preamble. Hot personal recriminations followed. j The discussion was unfinished when j the conference adjourned.
