'*Tho County Clerk reported that the Audi-tor-General had advised that the contribution by the> Council. to the Eefcnrned Soldiers' Building Fund could he made only from unauthorised expenditure.:.

The report, was adopted: A schedule was received:, from Mr "W. Freeman of proposed. loan 'Works at Cashmere, totalling £&214. Mr G. M. Hall, remarked that that schedule did not, inolude absolutely" every thing that waa proposed* to te, don® in the Cashmere Riding. The proposals, included the extension of the present sewage system, the duplication of the pumping: plant, extensions and alterations to> the electric lighting system, tho formation! of McMillans avenue and Valley road, • asphalting in various quartern; in. fact, it waS hoped that tho schedule would tako in all the. permanent works necessary in tho present- Cashmero subdivision. The total cost was estimated at about £12,000. Mr Hall was appointed to deal" with varicujj matters in.' connexion, with tho'.propoeals. , , . At the last monthly meeting o£ the Solwyn County Council there were present—Mr K.. Wilson (chairman) and Crs. 1 Hockndge, M. F. Hiatt, G. Hall, F. J. Andrew, W. A. Fairweath&r, W. ■ Stone, G. Hight,' and K. was received for supply of red birch timber for bridge / dccking, and it was decided to order tho amount "required for the Hororata bridge. 1 _ Two tenders were reoeiyed for shingling and levelling Terrace road, and that of it. Fagan waa accepted. • . ■ The Peace Celebrations Committee reported that, the districts of Hororata, Te Pinta, and Glenrov had decidedto join, forces in holding peace celebrations in the Hororata, Domain bn the Tuesday. The Dunsandel portion oi the County had decided ,to in its own township. The joint -wmmittee recommended that Dunsandel be allowed £15 of the £60 promised fdr the* celebrations, which was agreed to.
