William Spotswood Green, who was the first to climb Mount Cook. pi'iie' Rev. W. S. Green. C.8., M.A., was born in Youghal, County Cork,. Ireland, in 1847. and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was ordainejl in 1872 and was Incumbent of Carrigaline, County Cork, from 1880 to 1889. From 1889 to 1914 he was Government Inspector of Irish Fisheries, and u member of the Congested > Districts Board for Ireland from 1892 to 1909. His publications include "The High Alps of New Zealand" and the Selkirk Glaciers."!
