Sir James Allen leaves Dunedin for Wellington this morning. Mr Justico Herdman left for Timarn yesterday in order to preside over the criminal sessions in tuat town, which begin to-day. Mr H. It. Sellers, secretary to the New Zealand -Hating Conlorcnco, is making a very (satisfactory recovoiy from his recent illness, and is now resting at the Rhodes Convalescent Homo, Cashmoro Hills. The members of the Canterbury Bowling Club met iu their pavilion lose evening to bid good-bye to thoir president, Mr J. A. lledpath, who is leaving on a business trip to England and the ■Continent. Mr *M. Barnett, who occupied the chair, in presonting the doparting guest with a gold pencil-cpso and a gold-mounted tobacco pouch, spolco in eulogistic terms of tho work Mr Rodpath had done for tho club. Ho liold a high and honoured position amongst his fellow-members, and although ho would only bo absent for a short space of time, his genial prosenco would bo greatly missed. Mr Redpafch's health was drunk with musical honours. A short toast list was gone through, nnd musical items were contributed by Messrs J. Cocks, W. Lawn, W. Soper, J. Freeman, E. Orchard, J. G. Tager, and W. Hutton. A recitation was given by Mr Page, nnd Mr P. Zimmerman contributed two violin solos. Tho acyjmpaniments were played by Dr. F. A'Court.
