A story illustrating tho high, regard of Admiral Wemyss ior the Australians was told by Colonel Powell, of West Australia. At Lemnos, Powell's was ordered to erect a hospital, an'l while the operation was proceeding Sir Rosslyn "Wemyss. in company with tho French Admiral landed there. The Bit a of the hospital was claimed by tho French officer, who seemed much incensed. Admiral Wemyss, in a splendid rage, ordered the tents to bo immediately struck. His final broadside was: "Yon Australians would pinch anything!" Colonel Powoll accepted tbo rebuff in silence, but Admiral Wemyss turned to him and said in an undertone: "Don't take any notice of what I jrift said! I've the hi<rho»t opinion of the Australians. But I had to say soino* ' thing to mollify this chaji!," -
