Ho relied ■on the younger members to c<-> as well as the older men of tho U.R.C., to keep tho club in a strong position. l»ast season the club had been successful in securing tho D.C.L. Cup? for the year. He hopod to soe a great revival of rowing in the u<.xi summer,. and that a good nuniocr of regattas would bo held. The captain, Mr F. D. Kefiteven (who has annually replied to tho toast of the U.1C.0. for over 20 years past), in responding, expressed his pleasure at seeing the cuib in such a strong position. I'hey had enihusiastio young members, but ■ much of tho credit tor tho satisfactory position reached was due to the ofnee-bearero. Tho membership of tho club now etocd at 365. Several other toasts were proposed and suitably acknowledged. Mr H. Berry (president of the Avon Rowing Club, tho previous holders of ih© D.C.L. Cup) made a sportsmanlike speech in handing the trophy over to the Union Rowin™ Slub. Mr Kestoven made a suitable acknowledgment. Several musical items were contributed. Grenfell sccuxed 31, and L. M. Oaborno IT. Prizes of £1 and 10s, respectively, wero awarded these two members for their efforts ia securing new members. _ •.
