COUNTY COUNCILS.

♦ EYRE. At. tho last meeting of the Eyro County Council thero were present—Messrs F. G. Horrell (chairman), Mcintosh, Dixon, and Evaiid. A letter from tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, requesting the Council to make wri-.ugements to Sght any further outbreak of influenza, wa3 xead. It was resolved that the Council maJce the same arrangements with adjoining public bodies as during the late influenza epidemic. It was resolved that the Council ascertain if it is legal to vote county funds for tho erection of a Soldiers' Club in Christchurch. The Council did not support the Hastings j Borough Council's views as regards the appointment of the next Governor-General of New Zealand. The Council agreed to pay its share of the cost of asphalting the Empire bridge. It was reeolved that £30 be granted for peace celebrations, to be held at Ohoka on the Tuesday in celebration week, also that £20 each bo granted to the Kaiapoi and West Eyxoton Peace Celebration Committees. It was agreed to join the Rangier* ana Kaiapoi boroughs, and the Rangiora County Council in appointing a full-time cattle ranger; Messrs Horrell, Evans, and Mcintosh to wait on the Rangiora County Council regarding the appointment. Messrs Harper, Son, and Pascce advised tho Council to discontinue spending county funds on the protective works on the north side of the "Waimakariri ri*er at Eyreton. It was resolved that Clothier's road, from Mr Butcher's to Mr John Ferguson's bo electically reticulated. It was resolved that the chairman ascertain the cost of installing telephones throughout the county. Tho Council expressed the opinion that the Minister of Interna! Affairs was perfectly restisred in Feeing that all moneys collected for war purposes wcro used for 'he purpose tor which tbev wen; co'loctcd. Accounts amounting t'j CZ27 V.s SJ were passed lor payment.
