ENFORCING PEACE

Herr Nosko (Minister for tho Army and Navy) has issued a proclamation stating that the troops will shoot at sight all persons bearing arms against, tho Government. The Berlin correspondent of the "Daily Express" statos that Herr Noske shot 200 Spartacists against a wall. BERLIN A BATTLEFIELD. TERRORISM INCREASING. (Received March 12th, 7.35 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, March 11. " Herr Noske's troops attacked Lei[>sig at several points. It is roportod that tlie.v have secured possession of the city, overthrowing the Spartacists. Berlin on Monday was a liugo , battlefield. The Government occupies the centre of the city, which is cut off from traffic. The retreating Spartacists are bitterly resisting • in the eastern suburbs, preventing trains from reaching the city. Foreign postal communication is suspended, and trams are stopped. Rival aeroplanes hover overhead, machine-gunning and bombing. There were 150 bodies in the Berlin morgue to-day. ' Many neighbourhoods are strewn with debris aijd masonry, and resound to the clatter of machipe-guns, bursting hand grenades, and shells. Terrorism is increasing alarmingly. Murdering and plundering were never more prevalent. The shortage of food in some districts increases the misery. It is significant that the workers largely sympathise with tho Spartacists.
