ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER.

(fbess association- teleckaii.) WELLINGTON, December 28. An inquest was held on the body of Gracc Albrecht, who died oil December 23rd after bying injured by her son Thomas, on December 4th. Tho as-, saiiant is on remand on a charge of manslaughter. Dr. Fyffe stated that death, was due to fracture of the fourth vertebrae, • which would only be the result of direct violence. Cither medical, evidence showed that deceased was admitted to .tho hospital suffering from paralysis on December 13th, and had died ten days later. Witnesses stated that Thomas came' h&ine drunk and quarrelled with his mother about the quality of. his food, and struck her in tho face. Shortly afterwards she wa3 in a state of paralysis. Mr Riddell. S.M.. brought in. a verdict that death was dne to a fractnro of tho spine, clue to a blow inflicted bv Thomas Albrecht, on December 4th.
