The Govornment Committee on the provision of financial facilities for postwar trade reports that the first etep to repair the wast ago of capital, duo to the war. lies in increased production and in actual saving. Tho committee recommends the earliest cessation of State borrowing, and the restoration of an effective gold standard, theroby im.posing a restriction on tho creation of additional credit. The committee urges tho Government to declare its future policy regarding tariffs, the rationing of raw materials, and the disposal of the national factories' surplus stores, in order to enable manufacturers to prepare their future plans. The committee also suggests that a portion of the new issues of industrial 6hares should be reserved for workers in such industries. DISCONTINUANCE OF STATE CONTROL URGED. (Australian 'and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, December 27. Tho Executive Committee of the Australian Chambers of Commerce passed a resolution urging the earliest discontinuance of State control of trade, especially of licenses.
