This afternoon, at 2 o'clock, and this even ing, at 8 o'clock, J. C. Williamson, Lid., will present for the first time here the big D. W,
Griffith motion pictur© drama, "Hearts of the World,"'which is claimed to have broken tho records established by "Intolerance" and "The. Birth of a Nation'' in New York, London, and Australia. It is stated that it is quite impossible to givo even a small idea of the magnitude of Mr Griffith's latest and best triumph. Tho fact that "Hearts of the World" was taken at the express direction of the British and French "War Offices, and that Mr Griffith and hia principal artists were in the actual firing line tor several ruonihs, during which penod Mr Griffith was twice wounded by shrapnel shells, has naturally added to tho interest whica is aiways taken in a Griffith production. Mr Lloyd George took a keen interest in the manulaoture of tho Griffith film, and he overcame all obstacles in regard to the visit of the artists to tli© Sring lines. In "Hearts of the World" the most stirring battle scenes—actual views of xfiti—»vor ecreencd appear.' The onlooker is taken from the quiet simplicity of a Freucli village on to the great battlefields, iis sees miles of batteries, fleets of tanks and aircraft, rushing lines of soldiers; ho is taken into the French arid German trenches, and the duty of the Allies is impressed upon you m a way that can never be forgotten. The fact that "Hearts of tho World" .was produced under the direction of the British and French War Offices naturally gave Mr D. W. Griffith great ecopo, and those who witnessed a representation of "Intoleianco" can, well imagine that thi3 famous producer would make use of tho opportunities afforded him. Children will find special interest in "Hearts of the World," not only from its wonderful spectacular panoramas and interesting and patriotic story, but also because they should thoroughly enjoy the splendid acting of young' Ban. Alexander, who in the role of the twelve-year-old French hero displays rare histrionic powers. Tho characters in "Hearts of the World" are portrayed by eomo of the best screen artists. A notable feature of the production will be the operatic orchestra, which will play sneciallv written music, and a staff of mechanics will provide .unique effects, which will. help the reality of the many different episodes.
