A letter received by the Auckland City Council at its last meeting, from the Civic . League, made the following suggestions .. in connexion with the Council's future policy regarding sanitary and health conditions in that city: That all butchers and other shops, where eatables are sold, bo forced to immediately provide, gauze doors; that pastrycooks cover their windows with thin, muslin, or take other effectivo steps to prevent flies polluting the food; that all meat, while being conveyed through the Streets, be wrapped in a thin covering; that butcher's carts be clean, and men handling meat wear overalls; that the Council's officers be instructed to specialise in tho extermination of flies; that feigns be put up in tho streets and tramcars warning people against expectorating; that the Council insist upon all trams being kept clean: that as soon aa war conditions permit, all'~bread-be delivered wrapped in paper hags; and that tho milk supply be in municipal hands, and delivered in sealed bottles.
