(S?ECIAI| TO "THE FBESS.")
WELLINGTON, December 10.
The Navua, from San Francisco via Papeete, arrived in the stream to-day, and went into quarantino immediately. The term cf quarantine is not yet announced, but it will bo at least three days. The ship was free of influenza on leaving Papeete, and there have been no fresh cases. The Navua carries a considerable amount of cargo urgently needed, for the Christmas trade in Christchurch, but it is extremely doubtful whether the goods will reach Lyttelton before Christmas. 1 are are 1000 tons of transhipment cargo in Wellington stores already awaiting ship for Lyttelton, anil unless arrangements are made to have the Navua's cargo specially treated. this other cargo will have to go before a single case from the Navua can be shipped south.
