L. Polk, has published the text of the Chile-Peru Note, in which the United States urged the two nations that they -owed a duty to the rest of the wtorld to coffipdse their differences, and tendered American assistance, if required, to bring about an equitable settlement. The Not© viewed with graveit apprehension tho severing of consular relations, particularly on the eve of tho Paris Peace Conference, at which it is hoped steps will be taken to provide an era of fasting peace among all peoples.
