Dr. Stevenson has recovered from u:i attack of influenza. Sir James Carroll, who has been ,aa influenza patient, left for Wellington last night. Dr. H. W. deary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, who contracted influenza some days ago, is now reported to have considerably improved W health. Doubtless it will be of interest to many of our readers to know that the Chelmsford report on the government of India —a State Paper of the utmost importance—was drafted by .Mr W. S. Marris, an old graduate of Canterbury College. It is understood that Mr R. P. Ward, Clerk of the Court at Wellington, who, prior to hijj appointment there, held a similar position in Dunedin, has been promoted to Registrar of the. Supreme Court in Dunedin, in place of Mr A. Stubbs, transferred to Auckland. Mr M. B. Esson l one of the super l visors on the Christclmrcb Telegraph Office staff, has been transferred tp Timaru as, assistant superintendent of the Timaru office. Mr W. Forrest, who has been promoted to be postmaster ftt Rotorua. leaves Timaru for the North on Monday. Mr Pirrie Bush, son of Mr Thorny Bush, of who toured jtfeF Zealand with the Niblo Comedy Opiqpany, and who has boon in America for some time past, has been engaged J. C. Williamson. Ltd., to return V> Australia. He wiU support Mr and M** Figman, who are due in Australia shortly to star in soffie new comedies.
