THE WINE INDUSTRY.

DEPUTATION TO THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE. ■ an bxtra6rdinary reply. (By Cable.—Presa Aatoeratton Copyright.. (Received November 22nd, 8.30 p.m.) SYDNI3Y, November 22. A deputation from the Win© Association asked the Hon. W. C. Grahame, Minister of Agriculture, to take steps under the new Wine Bill to encourage and develop the industry, which, amongst other advantages, would open a field of employment for returned soldiers. Mr Grahame, declaring himself a "wowser," said that Australia would he better without vineyards, and the world would be better without liquor. He would rather see a soldier without a farm than that he should have a vineyard. These were mere personal views, and lie promised to place the request before the Cabinet.
