MAGISTERIAL.

(Before Jlr S. E. McCarthy, 5.21.) ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. Cecil Harper, on a charge of having, on the 13th inst., indecently assaulted a child at "Wools ton, was remanded till tire 21st inst. Andrew- Gunn, charged with having, within the six months last past, at Green Island, indecently assaulted a person ■unknown, was remanded to appear at Dunedin to-day. FAILING TO ACCOUNT. Alfred Patrick Ernest Smith pleaded guilty to two charges of having, at Culverden, fraudulently converted to his own use (1) on September Bth, the sum of £20, the property of J as. W. Davidson; and (2) on September 23rd, the sum of £9, the property of Adam E. Smith. Accused elected to be dealt with summarily, and sentence was deferred till the 19th inst. Bail was allowed, accused in £100, and two sureties of £50 each. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Arthur Patrick McGuire, Janet Mary MoGuire, Cecil Charles McCuUough, and Frederick John Wormald, charged with having obtained £194 4s from William John Cupples by falsely representing that' they were endeavouring to obtain the release of W« Hines from an institution, were farther remanded till the 22nd inst. Bail was allowed, Janet Mary McGuire on her own reeogi nisance in the sum of £50;, and each of the other accused in one surety of £100 —k*, or two sureties of £50 each.
