707,343 MEN IN THE FIELD. LOSS OF HALF THE MALE POPULATION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) CElcutcr'i Telegrams.) (Received November 13th, 10.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 12. A Serbian official message announces that, from July 2oth, 1914, to July 14th, 1916, Serbia placed 707,343 men in the field, and maintained during tho whole of that period half n million effectives. Tho number which fell in battlo and died in captivity up to tho last Serbian offensive was 322,000, Knowing that one-half of the malo population had perished outright in tho war. Iho total loss of live Block, war matorinl, and military expenses up to the arrival at Corfu amounts to over £"JG,000,000, including damage to private property and requisitions for foodstuffs.
