SHIPPING NOTES. : The Corinna is now expected here on Saturday from (Southern ports to load, for New Plymouth, fox which port she soils direct on Saturday evening. V Captain B. Irwin is in charge of the Monowai in place of the late Captain Drewette. The coastal steamer Karu left Lyttelton yesterday, bound for Nelson,, whence she will proceed toWestport. . ' It is .hoped to, despatch, the. Wakatu from Lyttelton to-night, with cargo for Kaikoura. From thenqp she will sail for Wellington, and will,-load there for Lyttelton. ■ The collior Karamu, having discharged'her cargo of coal at Lyttoltan, took her .departure on' a return voyage to, the West Coast. The Cygnet sailed last night for Kaikoura. She retutne toport this evening, and will remain here until Monday, when she is booked to sail ior Akaioa. . The Union Company s collier Kohika will complete- her discharge of coal, at ..Lyttelton to-day, and sail "this evening fox Westport direct. The .Breeze..should.put. in an appearance here on Saturday from norfcern ports with a cargo ,of {Jenetal merchandise. Upon completing here she will proceed to .Timaru and Dunedin, being timed to sail south on Saturday ■ night. . Mr Owens, third officer of the Maori, has joined the.Kfch&a as second officer. and J Barr, second officer of the Kahika, has signed on on oversea vessel. Mr H. Sporgeon has rejoined the Maori as _ chief steward. Mr W. Eyie, purser 6f the Maori, has gone ashore on sick leave. A good deal of inconvenience has been jn tho put by tli© fact tJba-t co&stal steamers from the South have almost invariably arrived almost fully laden, and leaving very little space for Wellington car S° and transhipments for northern ports (says Tuesday's Wellington ".fost"). Frequently, by reason of this, cargo for northern' ports discharged here from Home steamers gets piled up, and causes considerable congestion. The pressure is being relieved to some extent this week by the Kokiri loading for tho north.
